TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — One person has died following serious-injury crash in Tucson Monday, police say.
Officers responded to the intersection of S. Pantano Parkway and E. Golf Links Road at around 10:40 a.m. for a report of a serious-injury crash involving two vehicles, according to Tucson Police. Upon arrival, officers were told by TFD medics that the driver of a white 2020 Nissan Rogue was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the driver as 31-year-old Angelica Ceniceros. Next of kin has been notified.
The driver of the second vehicle, a gray 2006 Cadillac CTS was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police say.
Through further investigation, detectives determined that Ceniceros was traveling southbound on Pantano Parkway through Golf Links on a green light, during that time, in the intersection Ceniceros was hit by the Cadillac that was traveling eastbound on Golf Links, according to the department.
It was later determined that the driver of the Cadillac, a male in his 40s, was impaired at the time of the crash, police say. His name has not been released at this time.
Witness interviews and roadway evidence, determine that the driver of the Cadillac ran the red light at the intersection and was traveling at a faster speed than the posted speed limit of 40 MPH, according to the department. The driver is receiving treatment at the hospital, and charges are pending upon his release from the hospital.
The investigation remains ongoing.
