Tennium, Tennis Global Platform, today presented the Argentina Open ATP 250, an event belonging to the ATP Tour, which will be held from February 5 to 13, 2021, at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, and which will have brilliant names, on the return of the full capacity for the tournament.
Two players who are among the 15 best on the planet head the list today, such as the defending champion, Diego Schwartzman (No. 13 ATP) and the Austrian Dominic Thiem (No. 15). The event was held at the official hotel, the Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel & Convention Center, and was attended by the current champion, Diego Schwartzman; Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation; Mariano Zabaleta, vice president of the Argentine Tennis Association; as well as Martín Hughes, executive director and partner of Tennium, and Martín Jaite, director of the tournament.
Once again, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Nation is the main support of the tournament, through its Visit Argentina brand, heading a list that includes, to date, Axion energy, Ripio, Motorola, Isdin, Marriott, Emirates, Correo Argentino, Fila, Buenos Aires City, Medicus, Wilson, Lavazza, Simplot, Philips, Ser and Villavicencio.
The official broadcaster will once again be TyC Sports, and the official radio station will once again be Urbana Play. The tournament will be a great challenge for the reigning champion, Schwartzman, who once again left the traditional mate trophy at home by winning this season’s tournament after 13 years without local conquests.
“Winning the title this year was very special for me. Unfortunately it was with few people, in a year of pandemic and others, but I know that in February I will surely meet again with a full stadium and enjoying the fact that people can once again see the best tennis here in Buenos Aires.
I hope to repeat a great year and enjoy with all the people who will surely come”, said the Peque happily. Novak Djokovic had a phenomenal 2021 season.

Recently, in an interview with Russian news outlet K1 Televizija, Novak Djokovic’s father, Srdjan Djokovic, shed some more light on the matter.
“They (Tennis Australia) have to decide whether they will let Novak in,” Srdjan said. “If they decide (to not let Novak play), they have the stand behind their decision”. It seems likely that Novak Djokovic might miss out on contesting for his 21st Grand Slam.
In fact, he could also be missing out on furthering his Australian Open record to 10 titles. “He has won the Australian Open nine times, he now wants to play — but they have to permit him to play,” his father explained.
Srdjan was asked what the team will do if they ultimately are not allowed to play in the Australian Open. “We will wait for Rolland Garros and his 21 (21st Grand Slam win),” he replied. “He will win a few more Grand Slam titles until he retires. I think 4 or 5,” Srdjan predicted.
