World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty revealed she and her partner Garry Kissick designed the engagement ring together. Barty, a two-time Grand Slam champion, got engaged to her long-term boyfriend Kissick this past November. The two kept the news a secret for around a week but then made it public on social media.
“Garry and I have been together for a long time now and I had designed the ring with him. We are obviously excited now for the next chapter. We were at home on the couch with the puppies. It was very much just us. It was perfect for us.
Everyone has their unique way of doing it. It was perfectly suited to us. That’s just me and who I am and who we are together,” Barty told Herald Sun, as quoted on Sportskeeda.
Barty happy to be living near her family
“I have lived in the Springfield area my entire life and mum and dad have lived there for their entire lives.
My sisters are not far away. We are excited that we are in our new place. It’s beautiful. It is what we wanted and for us it is about making new memories now. The pups love our new place which for me it’s most important they run around and have a good time,” Barty said.
Meanwhile, Barty was praised by former tennis player Jill Craybas. Barty finished the year ranked at No. 1 for the third year in a row and Craybas believes the Australian represents the sport in a great way. “Ashleigh Barty is just an all-natural athlete and an amazing person.
I think she’s definitely a great representation for the women’s game,” Craybas said during her appearance on the Tennis Talk podcast. “The way she carries herself on the court, her demeanor, the way she speaks. I think she’s just awesome to have at the No. 1 spot.”
