Four NASCAR drivers are set to run the Tulsa Shootout dirt race
Kyle Busch is a 2-time NASCAR Cup Series champion. Now, he’s set to tackle the dirt micro ranks.
The 36-year-old is set to make his first appearance in the Tulsa Shootout. The race runs on the Chili Bowl track, a week before the dirt midget event.
Kyle Busch tweeted, “It’s a dirt track thing.”
Busch is diving all the way in as he’ll run in 4 of the 6 divisions: Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing.
The NASCAR Cup Series champion is driving cars out of the Joe B Miller Motorsports stables.
His son, Brexton Busch will also make his Tulsa Shootout debut. Brexton will run in the JR Sprint class.
Busch joins fellow NASCAR star Christopher Bell who’s also running the same four classes. Bell is a previous winner in the Winged Outlaw division.
2020 NASCAR Truck Series champion Sheldon Creed is another NASCAR driver running in the same 4 classes. He’ll compete full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022.
Brett Moffitt is the fourth NASCAR driver on the Tulsa Shootout entry list. The 2018 Truck champion is entered in Non-Wing Outlaw, Winged A-Class and Stock Non-Wing.
The previous record for Tulsa Shootout entries was 1,397. That record has already been broken as they near 1,500.
The Tulsa Shootout begin on Tuesday with a round of practice. Racing begins on Wednesday. Saturday’s finale features six main events to cap off the show.
