Dale Earnhardt Jr. Voices His Disapproval With NASCAR HoF’s Policies After Recent Backlash

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has once again proved why he is so loved and respected in and out of NASCAR circles. The JR Motorsports owner recently voiced his disapproval towards one of NASCAR’s Hall of Fame policies that don’t allow anyone except the inductee to deliver a speech.

And specifically, Dale Jr. gave voice to the words of Julie Stefanik, the widow of the late driver, Mike Stefanik, who will be inducted into the HoF later this month. After many personalities from the NASCAR community pointed out this unfair policy, the voice that was naturally the loudest and could turn out to be potentially the most effective was of Earnhardt.

He posted a tweet in which he revealed the beautiful speech Julie Stefanik wrote in the memory of her husband. Earnhardt followed that up with a promise of doing all he can to make sure NASCAR lets the widow celebrate her husband’s legacy properly.

“I’ve learned it’s Nascar HOF policy that individuals enshrined posthumously are celebrated throughout the weekend with exception of someone giving a speech during the ceremonies. I advocated for them to consider bypassing this rule for Julie. I hope they allow her some time,” Earnhardt wrote.

Along with the late Mike Stefanik and Red Farmer, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will also receive the prestigious honor this month. And it was his reaction to learning of this news back in 2020 that fits in well with his actions in 2022.

“It’s such a great feeling to know people think I made an impact. I know what my numbers are, and I feel like I was chosen because of that, but also for the impact I made off the track, being an ambassador for the sport,” Earnhardt had said.

And it’s true that Dale Jr’s numbers weren’t groundbreaking or astronomical.

Yet despite that, time after time and more recently after his support of Julie Stefanik, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has proved he may not be a champion in NASCAR, but he is a champion of NASCAR.
