WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Elon University men’s tennis dropped its season opener at No. 10 Wake Forest, 7-0 on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex.
HIGHLIGHTS
– Nicholas Condos put up a fight against No. 100 ranked Taha Baadi, but came up short 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles slot.
– Chung-Han Tsai went up against No.75 Filippo Moroni on the No. 4 singles court, but was edged 7-5, 6-1.
– Esteban Penagos also played against a ranked opponent in No. 117 Robert Maciag, but was defeated 7(7)-6(2), 6-3 in No. 6 singles.
– Nicholas Campbell won the second set against Rrezart Cungu in No. 2 singles, but fell in three sets 6(3)-7(7), 6-3, 6-0.
– Wake Forest captured the doubles point as Elon’s top duo of Campbell/Tsai fell in a tie-breaker 7(7)-6(3).
– Also in doubles play, the combo of Condos/Zipay were leading 6-5 before the Demon Deacons clinched the double point on court one.
