SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana men’s tennis team is set to compete in its inaugural season playing in the MIAA. In total, the Vikings have 17 matches this season including four MIAA North Division matches before heading to the MIAA Tournament.
In the recent MIAA Preseason Coaches’ Poll, the Vikings were tabbed to finish fourth in the north division.
Augustana has four returners from last year’s squad while adding a quintet of newcomers in Christian Cortinas, Henry Dornbusch, Justin Karcher, Joseph Plachy and Gavin Schmit.
The Vikings open the season with a weekend of MIAA matches coming at Emporia State on Saturday at 2 p.m., then traveling to Newman on Sunday.
Augustana will have played 10 matches before having another in-conference matchup.
A four-match spring trip in Orlando, Florida, will give Augustana a chance to see other opponents around Division II in Stonehill, Palm Beach Atlantic, Embry-Riddle and Florida Southern.
The Vikings will resume conference play March 18-19, traveling to Washburn and Northwest Missouri State.
The MIAA tournament will be taking place April 27-28 in Edmond, Oklahoma.
