Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal says tennis demands a lot mentally and one has to stay focused and committed all the time. Nadal, 35, is one of the most accomplished players in tennis history. Nadal has always been known as a hard worker and a true professional.
Nadal sacrificed a lot but it paid off as he is set to go down as one of the greatest players in tennis history. “Tennis is a mentally aggressive sport. It demands you at all times. One has to be able to find a way to be focused on what one is doing almost 100%, without being distracted by external things,” Nadal said in an interview at Cantabria Labs, per Sportskeeda.
“I achieve that state of concentration by doing all the rituals I do. I don’t know if it’s something positive or negative, but it works for me. I have some rituals that help me feel focused on what I’m doing.
It’s the way to differentiate when I’m competing from the rest of my life.”
Nadal has always been all about hard work
Nadal is someone who doesn’t love to complain. Instead, Nadal goes to the practice court or the gym and gives his absolute best so he could put himself in the best possible position to succeed.
“For me, the only failure is not trying. If I am going to play the Australian Open and come back after losing in the first round, but I have made an effort and I have the right attitude during the preparation week is not a failure,” Nadal noted.
Nadal’s fighting spirit was at its best during this past Australian Open final. Nadal appeared to be done in the final at Melbourne Park but then pulled off a stunning comeback to recovered from two sets down and beat Daniil Medvedev in five sets. Nadal now has a record 21 Grand Slam titles in his collection.
