KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State women’s tennis is back in action with two matches against Gardner-Webb and Mercer. The team will head to Boiling Springs, N.C. on Saturday and then conclude with an in-state matchup at Mercer on Monday.

Hot Start
The Kennesaw State women’s tennis team is off to its first 2-0 start since the 2011 season. The Owls took down Wofford in the season opener 5-2, before sweeping Presbyterian by a score of 7-0. The sweep of Presbyterian was the first 7-0 victory for the Owls since 2016, when the team did so against NJIT.
ASUN Accolades
Following her performance during the Owls’ first two matches, senior Ji Youn Lee was named the Women’s Tennis ASUN Player of the Week. Lee won two singles matches and helped KSU notch one doubles point during the opening week of play. The senior won in straight sets at Wofford (6-3, 6-1) and at Presbyterian (7-6(3), 3-6, 10-7).
Scouting Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb was 5-7 overall and 2-3 in the Big South last season.
Scouting Mercer
Mercer was 7-10 overall and 1-6 in the SoCon last season.
The Series
-In Saturday’s match at Gardner-Webb, the Owls look to even the all-time series at 1-1.
-For Monday’s event, KSU holds a 6-5 series lead against Mercer as it looks to defeat the Bears for the second consecutive match.
The Last Time Out
KSU women’s tennis defeated Wofford 5-2 and Presbyterian 7-0 on Jan. 14 and 15.
Next Up
KSU squares off with in-state rival Georgia State on Saturday, Feb. 26. Match time is set for 1:00 p.m. at the Sharon Lester Tennis Center at Piedmont Park.
