HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The No. 12 Texas Women’s Golf team shot a six-over-par 290 on Tuesday and stands in a fourth-place tie at 11-over-par 579 after the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club. Senior Sara Kouskova carded a two-under-par 69 to pace the Longhorns in the second round and is tied for fourth in the individual standings at one-under-par 141 (72-69). Freshman Bohyun Park is the leading the Longhorns through two rounds, shooting a one-under-par 70 to put her in a tie for second place in the individual standings at two-under-par 140 (70-70).
After recording a bogey on her third hole of the day (hole 12), Kouskova proceeded to go three-under-par through the rest of her round, which included back-to-back birdies on holes 7 and 8 to put her in a fourth-place through 36 holes. Kouskova’s round of 69 makes it her fourth round in the 60s on the year. Park shot a consistent round, with a birdie on her first hole of the day (hole 10), while playing even-par, bogey-free golf through the remaining 17 holes. Park’s one-under-par 70 was good enough for a second-place tie with just 18 holes left to play in the tournament. Park has not registered a bogey since the 11th hole during her opening round. At the conclusion of day two, the Longhorns currently have three players in the top-20 in the individual standings. That group includes, Kouskova, Park, and Graduate Brigitte Thibault, whose four-over-par 75 has her in a tie for 20th place at three-over-par 145 (70-75).
In addition to the Longhorns (No. 12 in the most recent WGCA Coaches Poll, released on Feb. 25, 2022), the 17-team Darius Rucker Intercollegiate field includes: No. 4 Wake Forest, No. 5 host South Carolina, No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Arkansas, No. 11 Arizona State, No. 17 Auburn, No. 18 LSU, No. 20 Baylor, No. 21 Duke, Furman, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Ten of the 17 teams participating are currently ranked among the nation’s top-25.
After a tourney best 280 on Tuesday, No. 4 Wake Forest leads the field at three-over-par 571 (291-280). Two strokes separate teams two thru five, with Arizona State standing second at nine-over-par 577(292-285), Baylor one back of the Sun Devils in third at 10-over-par 578 (287-291), and Texas (289-290) and Alabama (290-289) tied for fourth, a stroke behind the Bears at 11-over-par 579.
No. 11 Arizona State’s Calynne Rosholt posted a two-under-par 69 during the second day to grab hold of the 36-hole individual lead at three-under-par 139 (70-69). Rosholt holds a one-stroke advantage over Bohyun Park and Wake Forest’s Carolina Lopez-Chacarra who are at two-under-par 140.
The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday, March 2. Texas will be paired with No. 8 Alabama and No. 17 Auburn for Wednesday’s final round. Tee times will begin with at 9:30 a.m. CT (10:30 a.m. ET) from hole 1. The Golf Channel will carry live coverage of the final round from 1:30 p.m. CT/2:30 p.m. ET – 4:30 p.m. CT/5:30 p.m. ET.
The Lineup
- Freshman Bohyun Park fired a one-under-par 70 on Tuesday and is tied for second place in the individual standings at two-under-par 140 (70-70). She registered one birdie on the day (No. 10, par-4).
- Senior Sara Kouskova carded a two-under-par 69 in the second round and is tied for fourth at one-under-par 141 (72-69). Kouskova recorded four birdies on Tuesday (No. 13, par-3; No. 3, par-5; No. 7, par-4; No. 8, par-3).
- Graduate Brigitte Thibault posted a four-over-par 75 in the second round and is tied for 20th at three-over-par 145 (70-75). Thibault registered 10 straight pars from holes 15-6 (Longhorns started play from hole 10).
- Junior Sophie Guo tallied a five-over-par 76 during the second day and is tied for 70th at 12-over-par 154 (78-76). Guo recorded one birdie during the second round (No. 5, par-4).
- Sophomore Bentley Cotton shot a seven-over-par 78 and is tied for 75th at 13-over-par 155 (77-78). Cotton also registered one birdie on the day (No. 1, par-4).
