ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 16 Augustana women’s tennis team concluded spring break play with a win against Palm Beach Atlantic (4-0) on Tuesday afternoon before being handed its first loss of the season to Embry-Riddle (4-1) on Wednesday afternoon at Sanlando Park in Orlando, Florida.

The Vikings were able to get enough tennis played to grant the win before the weather left several singles contests unfinished.
Augustana claimed the doubles point with all three teams coming away with victories.
Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and Valeriya Monko cleaned up in No. 1 doubles, winning 6-2. In No. 2 doubles, Gabriela Jancikova and Laura Arce Vieyra claimed a 6-3 victory.
The No. 3 doubles team of Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson also garnered a win by way of a 6-4 score.
The Vikings claimed three wins in singles play, with the remaining three being unfinished due to inclement weather.
Arce Vieyra was the first Viking to claim victory coming in No. 3 singles winning 6-1, 6-0. Kistanova finished shortly after in No. 4 singles, winning 6-2, 6-1.
Monko was the last Viking to finish before rain would wash away the rest of the matches to be finished, taking No. 1 singles in 6-4, 6-1 fashion.
Granson, Hadjigeorgiou and Jancikova’s matches did not finish.

For the second consecutive day, the Vikings were unable to fully complete their scheduled match due to rain.
The Vikings lost the doubles point after falling in two of three matches. In No. 3 doubles, Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson garnered their third win of the week, winning 6-4.
Gabriela Jancikova was the lone Viking to win in singles garnering a 6-4, 6-3, win in No. 5 singles.
Despite only one win, the Vikings left competition on the table with Kistanova and Florentia Hadjigeorgiou’s matches not being finished due to rain.
In No. 2 singles, Hadjigeorgiou won set one 7-5 before the remainder of the match was cancelled in the second set.
Kistanova lost a close first set 7-6 in No. 4 singles before being able to start set two due to rain.

The Vikings will have a short break before returning to action facing regional foes in Washburn and Northwest Missouri State. Augustana will be the visitor for both matches, facing Washburn on March 18 and Northwest Missouri State on March 19. The contests are slated for 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.
