Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James climbed to second on the NBA all-time scoring list on Saturday. Naturally, his peers around the NBA honored and congratulated him for the epic milestone, including Chris Paul and Kevin Love.
James surpassed Karl Malone (36,928) for the no. 2 spot on the scoring list. He exploded for 38 points against the Washington Wizards, which pushed his overall career tally to 36,947. He is now inching closer to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who scored 38,387 throughout his 20 years in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks and Lakers.
After the game, Paul and Love took to Instagram to show their appreciation for James and what he has accomplished. Love even went as far as to indicating that James is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) with his use of goat emojis on his post.

Former NBA big man and LeBron James’ ex-teammate Kendrick Perkins shared the same sentiment as Kevin Love and highlighted how the GOAT conversation is “about to be a lot different” because of the latest feat. LeBron has always been compared with Michael Jordan and pitted against each other for the greatest player in the history of the league.
While the general consensus is that MJ is the GOAT, it seems Perk believes otherwise.
🐐 James at that Number 2 spot!!! That conversation about to be a lot different. Don’t mind me and Carry the hell on…

Ex-NBA star Tyson Chandler, like Chris Paul, congratulated the Lakers forward for the wild achievement. He is only 1440 points away from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar from being the top scorer in league history, and certainly, that’s not an easy feat to accomplish.
Congratulations @KingJames 👑 https://t.co/6kJkEiy2Ea

Several media outlets, as well as Lakers fans also made sure to honor and celebrate James’ achievement. The NBA has never seen such player with an amazing longevity while playing at a high level consistently, so it’s definitely just right to remember the occasion.
Besides, if James return next season and keep playing at the same level he has this 2021-22 campaign, it’s not hard to see him breaking the all-time record.

LeBron is probably focusing on leading the Purple and Gold to the playoffs and keeping their title hopes alive, but he has every reason to celebrate the greatness that he has shown everyone not only this season but also through the years.
