CARRBORO, N.C. – No. 1 North Carolina women’s tennis posted a 6-1 victory over Boston College on Sunday from the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. The win marked the 700th career dual match victory for Tar Heel head coach Brian Kalbas.
North Carolina (17-0, 6-0 ACC) won the doubles point to grab the early 1-0 advantage over the visiting Eagles and cruised to victory by winning five of six singles matches.
No. 9 Cameron Morra, No. 10 Reilly Tran, No. 15 Elizabeth Scotty, No. 24 Carson Tanguilig and No. 28 Fiona Crawley all won in straight sets.
Kalbas joins Georgia’s Jeff Wallace as the only two active head coaches with 700 career victories, and becomes the fourth Division I women’s tennis coach to win 700. That list also includes Lin Loring, who won 846 at UC Santa Barbara and Indiana from 1973-2016, and Jay Louderback, who compiled 703 wins from 1979-2018 at Wichita State, Iowa State and Notre Dame.
Carolina heads out for a road swing through the state of Florida. The Tar Heels face No. 10 Miami on Friday at 5 p.m. and No. 59 Florida State on Sunday at noon.
