CHANDIGARH: Putting behind the 1-2 drubbing at the hands of Sreenidi Deccan FC in their previous encounter, RoundGlass Punjab FC will hope to bounce back with a win against Neroca FC in their next Hero I-League 2021-22 match on Sunday. The match will take place at the Kalyani Stadium in West Bengal.
The club is currently placed third on the league’s points table with a tally of 10 points from five matches, with Sunday’s opponents Neroca FC one place below them in fourth position with eight points.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, RoundGlass Punjab FC assistant coach Floyd Pinto said, “We were not happy with the result in the last match and our performance in terms of our intensity and the way we were creating and converting chances.”
“We know NEROCA is going to be a tough opposition and their players are good in possession of the ball. So, we will have to be at the top of our game,” he added.
Pinto further said that the team isn’t much worried about the previous result and are looking forward to stage a strong comeback in the next game. He also highlighted the team’s strategy of taking each game as a final and focusing on collecting maximum points.
“We have scored a lot of goals this season and I hope we can get up to that level in the next match. At this point of time, it is important for us to just look at the next game, keep our heads down, take each match as a final and try to gain maximum points,” Pinto said.
Sumeet Passi, who scored the only goal for RoundGlass Punjab FC in the previous fixture, said, “There are many areas where we want to improve and have been working hard in training for that. The team is confident ahead of the next match and we know that we must play to our full potential to get the desired result.”
