Where will Alabama football’s Julio Jones go?
Julio Jones is one of the most successful NFL players in Alabama football history. However, he is currently looking for a new team to end his NFL career. After a prolific career with the Atlanta Falcons, he was traded to the Tennessee Titans for one year. Tennessee decided to cut the future Hall-of-Famer to save money on the cap, and Jones is now looking for a third team in just over two years.
Injuries have plagued Jones in recent seasons, but he is still a productive receiver when he gets on the field. He only has four touchdowns over the past two seasons, but his production could rise with a healthy season in the right system.
Jones is a competitor, and his veteran presence will be valuable to a team looking to win now. Jones might not be able to carry a receiver room anymore, but he can still make a difference. So, what are the best places for him to land?
The New England Patriots make too much sense. Jones seems like a dream player for the Patriot Way, and New England needs depth at the receiver position. If you were focusing primarily on fit, then this pairing makes too much sense to avoid.
Two other teams were mentioning are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. Both teams will be competing for a Super Bowl, and they need help at receiver after trading away top-tier talent. Jones would likely have to take a pay cut, but he would be competing for a Super Bowl as he ends his NFL career.
Beyond that, teams like the Rams and Chargers should be interested. Julio has been a winner since his days with Alabama football, so adding him to teams that are already deep at receiver would be nice. These teams wouldn’t need insane production from Jones, but he could still be a solid option when he has a good matchup.
Jones isn’t the same receiver he was a few years ago, but he has enough in the tank to contribute on a solid team. At this point, it’s just about fielding offers and making a decision.
