FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Jim Lipocky is stepping down as the head coach of the Indiana Tech women’s soccer program after 15 years. He was the fourth-longest tenured member of the Indiana Tech Athletics Department, following Jill Thomas (Administrative Assistant), Kip McWilliams (baseball) and Kelly Mettert (Golf).
I was given an amazing opportunity and I have treasured the moments and the friendships I have made along the way. Indiana Tech has been wonderful to me and my family and I have watched an athletic department grow and reach incredible heights. I will miss everyone, but I made this move for my family and I am excited for the next chapter in our lives.
Jim Lipocky
Lipocky holds the most wins in program history (108) and guided the Warriors since 2008, going 108-145-10 over that span and leading Tech to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament in all but three years. His 2012 squad went 16-4-1, amassing the second most wins in program history and falling short to national power Davenport University in the WHAC Tournament Championship on penalty kicks.
Over his time in Fort Wayne he has mentored 108 All-Academic Team honorees, 68 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 27 All-Conference selections, one WHAC Offensive Player of the Year (Tori Singstock) and one WHAC Newcomer of the Year (Singstock). Singstock tied the program record for career goals in 2017.
Lipocky was nominated by the WHAC for the NAIA’s Coach of Character Award following the 2017-18 academic year. In over 20 years of coaching he holds a 141-283-11 record.
We want to thank Jim and the entire Lipocky family for their commitment and dedication to not only the women’s soccer program but Indiana Tech as a whole. We wish them great happiness pursuing their future endeavors.
Jessie Biggs, Director of Athletics
In addition to his duties as the women’s soccer coach, Lipocky spent his first six years at Indiana Tech serving as the school’s Sports Information Director and has been the engine behind the Warrior concession stand during basketball season, serving up the finest batches of popcorn and hot dogs to the Tech faithful. He has served on numerous search committees and also a member of the Athletics Hall of Fame committee.
It was a family affair for Lipocky at Indiana Tech as his wife Cynthia served as the statistician for the Warrior volleyball programs and was the official scorebook keeper for Tech basketball games. His daughter Kierra helped run the concession stand for many years while his sons Cian and Aidan were ball runners for many a Warrior soccer match.
A search for Lipocky’s replacement will take place this spring.
