Boston vs New York had been postponed
Just last Wednesday, Yankees announced they postponed April 7 Opening Day game against the Boston Red Sox to Friday, April 8. The reason is because the weather forecast showed heavy and steady rains around the New Yankee Stadium and the East Coast on Thursday.
This Friday, the duel between the legendary teams kicks off the day’s action, with a total of 12 games.
“I think we’re a better team right now than we were at any points of last year,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said. “I would say, yes, a more complete team, but it’s April 3. So that’s great and all, we have to go do it.”
Pitcher Gerrit Cole will start for the Yankees, while Nathan Eovaldi will start for the Red Sox in a rematch of the wild-card game.
