LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Warren’s boys tennis team is starting to click.
A home sweep of Grove City on Friday at the Dragons’ home away from home — the Lakewood Family YMCA — improves Warren’s regular-season record to 3-1.
At singles, No. 1 Logan Fincher topped Ryan Waugaman, 6-0, 6-1; Will Strassburg beat Nathaniel Collins, 6-1, 6-0; and Abe Wolf won 6-2, 6-4 over Caleb Baumgartner.
“Logan Fincher is the best player in the region and one of the best in the district,” said Warren coach Travis Myler. “Will Strassburg played his best tennis of the year today. Abe Wolf did a nice job in his match; room to improve, but solid.”
In top doubles, Max Harrison and Mark Lynds won 6-0, 6-2 over Grove City’s Toby Phillips-Matson and Shane Cavolo. At second doubles, Warren’s Owen Strandburg and Adam Strandburg beat Isaac Aldstadt and Landon Schofield, 6-2, 6-4.
“First doubles played excellent,” said Myler. “They work well together and show the best of Dragon doubles. Owen Strandburg is a man amongst boys and Adam has to be one of the best four-week players ever. The kid is picking it up fast.”
