VALDOSTA, Ga. – Junior Alizee Vidal won the 2022 ASUN Women’s Golf individual championship for the Kennesaw State women’s golf team Tuesday.
Her performance in the three-day event helped the Owls to a second-place finish for the team championship. The Owls finished with a score of 8-over 872.
The team’s 3-over 291 tied for the lowest score of the final round.
This marks the fourth-straight season KSU has finished in the top two at the event.
Golfstat’s No. 48 North Florida claimed the 2022 ASUN Women’s Golf team championship.
LEADING THE PARLIAMENT:
Vidal carded a 4-under 68 in round three, adding to a tournament total of 5-under 211.
Her third round score tied the mark for the lowest single-round score by an Owl in ASUN Championship history.
Vidal’s 3.90 par-4 scoring average tied for the tournament-best while her 4.83 par-5 scoring average tied for fourth. She led the field with 42 pars.
The victory earned her a selection to the 2022 ASUN All-Tournament team, her second-straight honor.
SCORECARD:
Bella Kil finished tied for second at the conference championship, posting a 2-under 214 score at the event. She carded 2-over 74 in round three.
Kil’s placement also earned her ASUN All-Tournament team honors. She tied for first in par-5 scoring with a 4.67 average and led the field with 15 birdies.
Meva Schmit jumped five spots to finish tied for eighth. She carded a 1-over 73 to add to a 6-over 22 for the event.
Schmit recorded the only eagle at the three-day tournament.
Cameron Neilson tied for 13th with an overall score of 9-over 225. Lara Jecnik finished right behind her with a 10-over 226 and tied for 16th.
Neilson tied Kil for first in par-3 scoring with a 2.92 average.
GOLF CART NOTES:
>> The Owls led the field in par-3 scoring (2.98) and par-5 scoring (5.03).
>> KSU tallied the most birdies (41) at the event and tied UNF for the most pars (177).
>> The team finished second in par-4 scoring with a 4.11 average.
THORNE’S THOUGHTS:
“I’m proud of the team for how they fought not only today but this season,” head coach Erin Thorne said. “I’m excited for Alizee to win the individual medalist and proud of how she finished strong today.”
