FAIRMONT — Maggy Totzke matched Tuesday’s high temperature of 44 degrees on her scorecard to power the Fairmont Cardinals to a team triumph during the season’s initial five-team Big South Conference Event.
Totzke earned meet medalist honors by penciling in a nine-hole total of 44 to help the host Cardinals engineer the multi-team golf field’s only sub-200 score at 193.
Adrianna Bixby, who shared runner-up individual honors with Blue Earth Area’s Katelyn Storbeck at 48, paced St. Peter’s second-place tie with Storbeck’s Bucs at 206.
New Ulm placed fourth with a 223, while Waseca finished fifth at 225.
Totzke connected for pars on Nos. 16 and 17 to pace her winning ways at Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont, while teammate Solveig Senf topped the Cardinals’ scoring charts with three pars. Senf earned even-par totals of 10, 14 and 18 to highlight her score of 49 that proved fourth overall.
Brynn Gustafson and Anika Haugen each produced rounds of 50 to complete Fairmont’s counting totals on the Big South Event. Ironically, Gustafson and Haugen shared fifth place individually, with both Cardinal golfers sinking pars on No. 17.
Bailey Martinson followed in Fairmont’s scoring column with a 52, including pars on Nos. 11 and 13, to place ninth overall. Lauren Davis rounded out the Cardinals’ winning performance by firing a 57.
Rylan Storbeck carded four shots higher than Katelyn Storbeck to tie for ninth place overall at 52 to add scoring punch for Blue Earth Area.
Payten Gudahl and Kylie Rosenau shared 11th place overall to round out the Bucs’ counting totals on the nine-hole round. Gudahl and Rosenau each penciled in 53s, with Gudahl parring No. 13 and Rosenau sinking her par on No. 16.
Liz Beeler and Madison Ehrich completed Blue Earth Area’s effort by generating a 59 and a 64, respectively.
Fairmont and Blue Earth Area compete in the New Ulm Invitational at 1 p.m. Thursday at the New Ulm Country Club.

Madelia 253, Martin County West 320, Mountain Lake Area and Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial incomplete — Savannah Wyman and Katherine DeVlaeminck tied for third place overall with a pair of 59s to guide the host Blackhawks to a team triumph over the Mavericks during quadrangular action Tuesday in Madelia.
Wyman and DeVlaeminck paced Madelia’s first-place total of 253, while Alicia Grebenc, Katie Bocock and Genesis Robles Moran rounded out the Blackhawks’ counting marks.
Alicia Grebenc placed fifth overall with a 67, while Bocock and Robles Moran shared sixth individually with a pair of 68s. Hannah Grebenc chipped in a 77 for Madelia.
Brenna Heifner topped MCW by firing a 75, while Shanna Amborn contributed a 77. Lilly Krogman-Gibson supplied an 83 for the Mavericks, while Layla Smith added an 85.
Mountain Lake Area’s Olivia Christians earned meet medalist honors by shooting a nine-hole score of 55.
Martin County West competes against Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther and host St. Clair on Thursday at Terrace View Golf Course. Madelia plays Alden-Conger on Thursday at Oakview Golf Course in Freeborn.

Martin County West 196, LCWM 217, Mountain Lake Area 220, Madelia 233 — Hunter Schmidt and Mitchell Weber packed a 1-2 scoring punch to stampede the Mavericks to a 21-stroke triumph over the runner-up Knights during quadrangular action Tuesday in Madelia.
Schmidt produced a co-team-best four pars to garner meet medalist accolades with a 42, while Weber shared runner-up medalist honors by carding a 47, highlighted by a co-team-high four pars.
Kale Larson generated two pars to tie for fifth individually at 52, while Kamden Domeier netted a tie for eighth place at 55 to complete MCW’s counting scores.
Evan Roben chipped in a 60 for the Mavericks, while Joshua Roben tallied a 72.
Noah Tierney topped Madelia’s effort by placing fourth overall with a 48, while teammate Caden McMullen shared 10th place overall with a 56.
Luke Stensrud and Cross Schmidt completed the host Blackhawks’ counting marks at 64 and 65, respectively.
Trey Missling and Tim Fenske rounded out Madelia’s effort with a 69 and a 75, respectively.

Alden-Conger 180, Truman/GHEC/Martin Luther 205 — Ryan Hintz and Ryker Erickson collected medalist and runner-up medalist honors to steer the Knights to a 25-shot victory over the Jaguars on Tuesday at Rose Lake Golf Course in Fairmont.
Ryan Hintz fired a first-place nine-hole mark of 43, Ryker Erickson netted second overall at 44, Tyler Erickson finished third with a 46, while Parker Hintz penciled in a 47 to cap the counting totals for Alden-Conger.
Colby Brudelie notched two pars to pace his round of 48 to top the Jaguars, while Jakob Fischer delivered a 51.
Lance Stevens and Wyatt Luhmann each connected for one par to pace their respective rounds of 52 and 54 for the Jaguars.
Jonah Hackett and Tyson Kube completed the Jaguars’ performance with a pair of 55s.
The Jaguars play Martin County West and St. Clair on Thursday at Terrace View Golf Course.
