Scoring 100 points in an NHL season is supposed to be a difficult task. Someone should tell that to the group that has done it this year.
Six players have reached 100, with Matthew Tkachuk doing it Thursday. He joined his Flames linemate Johnny Gaudreau, who accomplished the feat a week prior.
This season might be the first since 2006-07 with seven 100-point scorers. The closest the NHL came to that was in 2017-18 when six hit the century mark.
With just over a week left in the regular season, there’s a chance for additions to the group.

There isn’t a lot of time left for players to put up more points, but these three are in striking distance of 100.
Kirill Kaprizov is up to 97 after a three-point night Thursday. The Wild have five games to go. He’s likely the next player to hit the threshold.
Right behind him is Artemi Panarin, who is fresh off a four-assist night for the Rangers. He’s at 96 points with four contests remaining on New York’s schedule.
Mitch Marner needs five more points to hit 100. The Maple Leafs have four games remaining.
