MARSHALL — The Marshall boys and girls golf teams battled the elements once more in addition to their Big South Conference opponents in Worthington and New Ulm, competing in a rainy and cold triangular meet on Friday at Marshall Golf Club. On the boys side, Marshall Varsity took first with a team score of 151, followed by New Ulm in second (176), Worthington in third (186) and Marshall Junior Varsity in fourth (195). On the girls side, Marshall Varsity took first with a score of 189, followed by Worthington in second (201) and New Ulm in third (214), Worthington JV in fourth (251) and Marshall JV in fifth (254).
Boys
Marshall Varsity took the first five spots, led by Jayden Manthei’s 37 to earn medalist honors. Zach Kramer, Luke Ehlers and Sam Schwarz all fired a 38 to tie for second while Jared Reinsma had a 41 to tie for fifth and Evan Franson had a 44 to tie for 11th.
On JV, Joey Fossum led Marshall with a 44 to tie for 11th while Tyler Welsh had a 46 to take 13th, Wyatt Boerboom had a 51 to take 16th, Klayton Weller and Brenden Weller both had a 54 to tie for 18th and Jonah Vierstraete had a 59 to take 24th.
Girls
On the girls side, Marshall was led by Brooklyn Gossen who had a 45 to earn medalist honors. Grace Ehlers and Dayton Webskowski both had a 47 to tie for third while Jaryn Hilgemann had a 50 to tie for sixth, Eryn Kraft had a 55 to take 12th and Taylor Miller had a 58 to take 16th.
On JV, Rylee Jacobson led Marshall with a 60 to take 19th while Sophia Schwartz had a 61 to take 20th, Ali Pederson had a 62 to take 21st, Kaylee Prins had a 71 to take 26th and Kaitlyn Runia had a 73 to take 28th.
Marshall will compete next on Monday, with the boys team playing in Windom at 4 p.m. and the girls team hosting a meet at 4 p.m.
