The 10th-seeded Aggies shot a 6-over 299 on the 7,115-yard, par-72 Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club on Saturday and currently sit at 11-over 592 (293-299) heading into Sunday’s final round.
Colorado State remains in first place after shooting a14-under 274 on Saturday. The Rams have a two-day total of 22-under 554. No. 50 San Diego State shot a stellar 15-under 273 during the second round and is two shots back of CSU.
Esteban Jaramillo is the lone Aggie in the top 20 as he is currently tied for 17th at even-par 144. The Utah State freshman carded a 2-under 70 on Saturday as he had four birdies during his round.
Utah State sophomore Javier Vazquez, who was tied for fifth after opening with a 2-under 70 on Friday, is now tied for 23rd at 2-over 146.
Freshman Luis Gerardo Cantu and senior Jesse Henderson are tied for 42nd at 7-over 151, while sophomore John Cook is tied for 46th at 8-over 152. Cantu was a late addition to the Aggies’ lineup as he replaced senior Cameron Tucker (illness) prior to Utah State teeing off on Friday.
Colorado State’s Connor Jones is the clubhouse leader at 11-under 133 after firing a 6-under 66 on Saturday. San Diego State’s Youssef Guezzale also shot a 66 on Saturday and is tied for second at 8-under 136, along with Nevada’s Trey Davis.
The tournament will conclude Sunday with the final 18 holes.
This is just the second time in the last 15 championships that the event is not being contested on the Catalina Course at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club. The MW Championships also took place at the Olympic Course in 2018.
