CHARITON — Grant Van Veen tied for third overall and three Mustangs carded career-best rounds during PCM’s boys golf team’s second-place finish in a tournament hosted by Chariton on Thursday.
PCM shot 181 in second and trailed champion Knoxville (162) by 19 strokes. Chariton (192), Chariton’s JV (208) and Knoxville’s JV (225) completed the field at the par 36 Lakeview Golf & Country Club.
Van Veen was one shot back of the meet medalist after firing a 41. Tate Tangeman shot a career-best 44, Pete Kieren carded a career-best 47 and Drake Roorda’s 49 was the final counting score.
Easton Van Veen and Nick Farver both shot non-counting 51s. It was a career-best round for Farver.
Knoxville’s Beau Leisure and Carson Uitermarkt both shot 40 at the top of the leaderboard.
