ALTOONA — Juniata will have a District 6 Class 2A championship doubles team.
The only question is, which tandem from the Indians’ squad will win it? That will be determined in the district final after both Juniata entries advanced to the tournament final, slated for Wednesday.
Emmett Hibbs and Xane Whitesel teamed up for wins over Westmont Hilltop’s Eli McCoy and Sebastian Masterson, 6-3, 6-0, in the quarterfinals, where Adam French and Gavin Kint had a bye.
In the semifinals, Hibbs and Whitesel defeated Huntingdon’s only entry, Trevor Dickson and Holden McBrayer, 6-1, 6-1.
French and Kint eliminated Westmont’s other entry in that round, Charlie Snee and Taha Al-Ubaidi, 6-2, 6-2.
Juniata’s Max Lauver previously won the district singles title over French, qualifying him individually for states but making him ineligible for doubles competition.
