TPC Potomac isn’t normally the site of the Wells Fargo Championship, but with the Presidents Cup being played at Quail Hollow Club later this year, the greater Washington D.C. area is playing host to what is shaping up to be a competitive weekend. Leader Jason Day has been outstanding so far, sitting at 10 under coming into Saturday’s action. Soggy conditions on Friday created some separation, with big names like Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy falling off the pace.
Still, there’s a loaded leaderboard with some interesting long-odds possibilities as Round 3 tees off. Max Homa and James Hahn are just three and four strokes back, respectively, and both have a history of success at this tournament (even though it’s at a different course). Keegan Bradley, Luke List, Abraham Ancer — even Tony Finau at 2 under — could still be in play come Sunday with a strong effort over the final 36 holes.
