The Colorado Avalanche will take on the St. Louis Blues in the Second Round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
After claiming the top seed in the Western Conference, the Avalanche will have home-ice advantage. The matchup between the Avalanche and Blues begins with Game 1 taking place on Tuesday, May 17 at Ball Arena with a scheduled 7:30 p.m. MT puck drop.
This last time these two clubs met in the postseason was last year where top-seeded Colorado swept St. Louis, who held a Wild Card and fourth-seed in the West Division. Their previous postseason meeting was in the 2020 Stanley Cup Qualifiers round-robin game where the Avalanche won the contest 2-1. The prior playoff series between the two teams took place back in the 2001 Western Conference Final, where Colorado won in five games.
Colorado enters this year’s postseason matchup having posted a 2-1-0 record during their three-game regular season series against the Blues. The most recent and final meeting between the Central Division rivals took place on April 26 in Denver where the Avalanche won 5-3.
The Avalanche finished the regular season atop both the Central Division and Western Conference and were ranked second in the league with a 56-19-7 record and 119 points. The Blues placed third in the Central Divison and ninth in the league with a 49-22-11 record and 109 points.
