One of the most fascinating aspects of a Jake Paul fight night is the crossovers between other sports. Athletes from all walks of life have joined his cards, from basketball, to football, to MMA. Another former basketball star is ready to showcase what he can do in a boxing ring.
NBA Insider Shams Charania has reported that Glen Davis will be competing on Paul’s upcoming fight card on August 13. The initial plan, per Shams, was for Davis to fight former NBA star, Larry Sanders. Those plans were nixed due to the latter’s commitment to the Big3 basketball league.
Hoops-boxing crossover: 8-year NBA vet Glen “Big Baby” Davis is targeted to be part of Jake Paul’s PPV event on Aug. 13, per sources. Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions was working on Davis-Larry Sanders, but is now evaluating new opponent due to Big 3 commitment for Sanders.

An All-American while with LSU, Davis was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA Draft before being traded to the Celtics. He played in Boston from 2007-2010, winning the NBA Championship in his rookie season. Davis ended up getting traded to the Orlando Magic, where he played a few years before agreeing to a buyout. Signing with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014, Davis initially caused issues with then-coach Doc Rivers. Recovering from ankle surgery, he became an unrestricted free agent in 2015.
Davis never returned to the NBA and played around for the Croatian and ABA league, as well as the National Basketball League of Canada.
Recently, Davis and 18 ex-NBA players were charged with defrauding the league’s healthcare plan out of about $4 million. Players received about $2.5 million in fraudulent proceeds after false claims of $3.9 million. Davis was indicted by a federal grand jury in New York. Some of the veterans charged were instructed to repay the proceeds they received from the healthcare plan.

As far as a career in combat sports goes, Davis is ready. On an episode of The Big Facts podcast, Davis discussed how he has been training in MMA for years. He said he’d want to face a football player in the ring, but wouldn’t mind fighting Mike Tyson.
As of now, Paul does not have an opponent for his upcoming fight card.
Other athletes that have fought on a Paul card in the past include Deron Williams, Frank Gore, Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and Nate Robinson.
