MARSHALL — Multiple area golfers will compete today and Wednesday against some of the state’s best at the Class A tournament in Becker, as two teams and 10 individuals will step foot onto Pebble Creek Golf Club.
Boys
On the boys side, Lakeview will compete as a team. The Lakers will consist of freshmen Lane Arends and Carson Boe, junior Ethan Schwankl and seniors Cole Arends, Parker Geistfeld and Trey Helmke. Helmke will start his first round today at 7:30 a.m., followed by Geistfeld (7:39 a.m.), Lane Arends (7:48 a.m.), Cole Arends (7:57 a.m.), Schwankl (8:06 a.m.) and Boe (8:15 a.m.).
Individually, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton will have one competitor in junior Chase Christensen, who will start his first round today at 8:24 a.m. Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove and Dawson-Boyd will also have one competitor each, with HLO/Fulda/WWG junior Sawyer Drent starting his first round today at 8:33 a.m. and DB senior Collin Swedzinski starting his first round today at 9 a.m. Minneota will have two representatives in seniors Jackson Esping and Cole Myhre. Esping will start his first round today at 8:33 a.m. while Myhre will start his first round today at 8:42 a.m.
Girls
On the girls side, Murray County Central will compete as a team. The Rebels will consist of eighth-graders Lizzie Daniels and Rachael Huso, freshman Ava Johnson, juniors Symone Harms and Elie Meyer and senior Ciera Tutt. Harms will start her first round today at noon, followed by Huso (12:09 p.m.), Daniels (12:18 p.m.), Meyer (12:27 p.m.), Tutt (12:36 p.m.) and Johnson (12:45 p.m.).
Individually, HLO/Fulda/WWG will have one competitor in senior Ellyson Bang, who will start her first round today at 1:03 p.m. Minneota and Canby will also have one competitor each, with Minneota senior Lauren Bowyer starting her first round today at 1:21 p.m. and Canby junior Kara Rangaard starting her first round today at 12:54 p.m. Dawson-Boyd will have two representatives in eighth-grader Alyssa Swedzinski and freshman Lindsey Lund. Swedzinski will start her first round today at 1:12 p.m. while Lund will start her first round today at 1:30 p.m.
