Pay-TV provider Optus Sport has secured the Australian broadcast partnership for Spanish soccer’s top-flight LaLiga, signing a multi-year agreement.
The deal will see Optus broadcast 380 LaLiga matches each season, which will be available both live and on-demand.
The contract also includes the second-tier LaLiga Segunda, including its promotion playoffs, as well as offering highlights, news and analysis programmes.
Optus’ has built its sports offering around a soccer rights portfolio which is centred on the Premier League. The broadcaster signed a six-year with English top-flight extension in November, worth AUS$600 million (US$416 million) according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Optus recently confirmed a deal to become the 2023 Women’s World Cup‘s domestic broadcaster of the tournament set to take place in Australia and New Zealand next year, with its international soccer slate also including the rights to the Euro 2024 championships.
