BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head women’s soccer coach Lauren Calabrese announced the Mountain Hawks’ 2022 schedule on Tuesday, which includes 16 games – seven at home and nine on the road. The Mountain Hawks open the season by hosting Monmouth and Drexel before hitting the road for three straight. Lehigh will be facing three teams who advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season, including St. John’s, who reached the Round of 16.
The Mountain Hawks open the season by hosting Monmouth on Friday, Aug. 19, facing a team that in 2021 won the MAAC Tournament for the sixth time overall and fifth time in the last six seasons. Last year, Lehigh dropped a competitive 1-0 final at Monmouth in a game that came down to the final seconds. The Mountain Hawks are 1-1-4 over the last six games against Monmouth.
Lehigh remains home on Thursday, Aug. 25 to host Drexel before hitting the road for three straight – at Delaware (Thursday, Sept. 1), Penn (Sunday, Sept. 4) and Siena (Thursday, Sept. 8). The Mountain Hawks will travel to Delaware for just the second time since 2006 while facing Penn for the first time since 2018.
Lehigh returns home on Sunday, Sept. 11 for a marquee matchup against St. John’s out of the Big East. The Red Storm advanced two rounds in last season’s NCAA Tournament before falling at Duke in the Round of 16. This season’s matchup between Lehigh and St. John’s will mark the first played between the two sides in Bethlehem. The all-time series is tied, 1-1, with the Mountain Hawks winning in 2017 and Red Storm in 2021.
For the second straight season, Patriot League play begins against Army West Point. Last season, the result was a 3-3 draw at Lehigh. This year, they’ll square off on Friday, Sept. 16 in West Point.
September wraps up with games against Lafayette (Wednesday, Sept. 21) and at Holy Cross (Saturday, Sept. 24). The Mountain Hawks return to Massachusetts to open October, with a game at Boston University (Saturday, Oct. 1).
League play continues vs. Navy (Friday, Oct. 7), at Colgate (Wednesday, Oct. 12) and against Loyola (Saturday, Oct. 15). Then comes a road contest at Princeton on Tuesday, Oct. 18, with the Tigers being Lehigh’s third 2022 opponent that advanced to the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
The regular season wraps up against American (Saturday, Oct. 22) and at Bucknell (Wednesday, Oct. 26). The Patriot League Tournament begins with the quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 30.
