Aaron Rodgers might trip, but he won’t be taking a trip to the NFL’s suspension list any time soon.
The Packers quarterback caught the attention of the public (and apparently, his ancestors) last week, when he admitted to taking ayahuasca, a psychedelic drug, prior to both of his MVP-winning seasons in 2020 and 2021.
Some have been curious as to whether or not Rodgers would be slapped on the wrist or slapped with a suspension due to his use. As it turns out, neither will happen to the passer.
Rodgers won’t be catching the attention of the league, per NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. McCarthy revealed on Monday that Rodgers’ use of the drug won’t trigger a positive result under the substance abuse or performance-enhancing drug policies, meaning Rodgers is in the clear (and clear mind).

Ayahuasca, a hallucinogen, doesn’t make the lengthy list of the NFL’s banned substances, neither in the PED category nor the substance of abuse category.
Interestingly enough, ayahuasca is a Schedule I drug under federal law, but doesn’t fall under the NFL’s banned substances like cannabis.
In the past, eyebrows have been raised at Rodgers for certain health decisions, including his COVID-19 vaccination stance and his penchant for Panchakarma cleanses.
Rodgers can keep using the groovy drug to keep him in a groove, though. If he wins a third straight MVP, then we’ll know why.
