Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has accomplished a ton during his NBA journey thus far. What he has accomplished is what most players dream of achieving as Antetokounmpo has an impressive resume to this point.
Two-time MVP, six-time All-Star, six-time All-NBA team member and five-time All-Defensive Team are some of the highlights. The most important is that he is an NBA Champion, helping lead the Bucks to capture the Larry O’Brien Trophy in 2021, defeating the Phoenix Suns.
Antetokounmpo took home the NBA Finals MVP Award that year as the Suns had no answer for him. The craziest part about all of what he has accomplished is that he is nowhere near done. He has done all of that in only nine seasons.
As he enters Year 10 of his NBA career and will turn 28 years old later in the year, Antetokounmpo remains as hungry as ever. He shared an interesting quote with Kurt Helin of NBC Sports recently about it.
“I’m an old soul, Antetokounmpo told NBC Sports. “Like, in my mind I feel like I’ve been a vet five years now. But like my body… I have so much energy. I’m so hungry to accomplish more. I want to go out there and help you know my team in the best way possible. And a lot of people know that I’m a winner. I love to win. I love to go out there and leave everything on the court.
But definitely I agree with you that people don’t think I’ve been 10 years in the league and they see me as kind of the young guy. You know the new guy on the block but it’s okay, you know, but at the end of the day, I won’t go out there and do the best job possible and try to win games.”
A lot has changed for the Greek Freak in that decade as he has transformed from a skinny kid into a force of nature that is built like a brick house. He recently revealed that he believes LeBron James is the best player in the world and a big reason for that is how well he takes care of his body.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Keeping NBA Future Open
Since joining the Bucks, Antetokounmpo has begun taking his health more seriously as well. That has played a big part in his transformation.
“I definitely feel different,” Antetokounmpo said. “When I was 18 I was eating cheeseburgers and drinking Mountain Dews and, you know, sodas, but as you as you grow older, you realize that you want to have a long life and a healthy life. And I definitely take care of my body as much as I can. I invest in myself. The best investment you can do is in yourself, to invest in yourself.”
Not only has Antetokounmpo dedicated time to getting his body right, but he also continues developing his skills on the court. His jump shot is still sometimes suspect, but he works tirelessly to improve.
He can knock down mid-range jumpers efficiently enough that teams have to respect it and step out to defend him. If a 3-point shot soon follows, Antetokounmpo will truly be the most unstoppable basketball player on the planet. Betting against that happening would likely be a losing proposition, as he still has the fire to improve and win as much as he did years ago when his career started.
