Bangladesh faces UAE in a two-match T20I series as a warm-up heading into the T20 World Cup in Australia. They will be playing two games against each other on September 25 and 27 in Dubai. Both teams are fresh from their respective Asia Cup campaigns.
Shakib Al Hasan will not be a part of this T20I series as he is busy playing the CPL in the Caribbean for the Guyana Amazon Warriors. Nurul Hasan who lead the side against Zimbabwe will lead in his absence.
“I think it will be good preparation ahead of the World Cup. If we can win then we can take the confidence into New Zealand and the World Cup and that will help us. We lost a couple of games but we know that this team has a different look, if we can develop the habit of winning, and we are going there keeping our focus on it” Nurul told reporters ahead of the first T20I.
Meanwhile, the BCB confirmed Shakib’s absence from the series. “Shakib is unavailable in UAE,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus confirmed to Cricbuzz.
Shakib has been given an NOC till October 4 and will return to the side for the tri-nation series involving Pakistan and New Zealand including the Tigers in New Zealand. Bangladesh will return back on September 28 and then will depart for New Zealand for the series starting from October 7. The Bangladesh T20I skipper will join the side in New Zealand.
