The Rothsay Tigers football team snapped the Brandon-Evansville Chargers’ three-game winning streak with a 52-14 win at home on Friday.
Rothsay (3-3, Section 4 9-man) got the offense going early with big plays, scoring twice on touchdowns of 50-plus yards (one rush and one pass).
The Chargers (3-3, 2-2 Section 4 9-man) moved the ball early as well with quarterback Micah Fuller scoring a touchdown on a 15-yard run and with an 11-yard passing touchdown (Fuller to Stephen Hamilton).
Rothsay took over after the first quarter, outsourcing B-E 36-0 in the final three quarters. Rothsay racked up 532 yards of total offense in the game, 374 of which came on the ground.
Karson Jensen ran for 189 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers.
Each team forced two turnovers in the game.
Five of the seven Rothsay touchdowns came 20-plus yards out.
Hamilton was the leading receiver for the Chargers with 62 yards on three receptions. Logan Haburn led the Chargers in rushing with 29 yards.
Haburn and Ben Seifert led the defense with 7.5 tackles. Haburn also converted a two-point conversion attempt in the first quarter.
Fuller completed six passes for 73 yards in the game.
B-E hosts Bertha-Hewitt (0-6, 0-5 Section 4 9-man) for their final home game of the regular season on Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. B-E beat Bertha-Hewitt 66-6, in 2021.
