The Vegas Golden Knights (15-4-1) overcame a two-goal deficit in the third period to defeat the Vancouver Canucks (6-10-3), 5-4, on Monday night at Rogers Arena.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
After a scoreless first frame, Andrei Kuzmenko opened the scoring at 11:48 of the second. Mark Stone and William Carrier each deflected Jack Eichel shots less than a minute apart to give the Golden Knights their first lead if the game. Early in the third, Bo Horvat and Luke Schenn scored in quick succession to put Vancouver back in front. The Canucks doubled their lead on an Elias Pettersson goal, Carrier collected his second of the night at 6:54 to bring Vegas back to within one. Two minutes later, Reilly Smith tied the game for the Golden Knights with his 10th goal of the season. Alex Pietrangelo snuck a backhand shot through Thatcher Demko with 5:46 to go to lift Vegas to the victory.
