The Philadelphia Flyers will be looking to move on from a disappointing loss against the Chicago Blackhawks at home as the Flyers start their road trip in Detroit facing the Red Wings. Before playing Chicago, Philadelphia had won four of its last five games. The game was kind of inexplicable considering how well the Flyers were playing but they fell flat in losing 4-1. Detroit, meanwhile, broke up a three-game losing streak by beating Vegas on the road 3-2. Detroit has 46 points while Philadelphia has 45. This feels like about as evenly matched of a game as we can get midway through the season.

The Flyers actually started the game off well against Chicago, going up 1-0 after the first period with a goal by Morgan Frost but it was all Chicago from that point on. Goalie Petr Mrazek was just too tough in the net, stopping 37 shots to earn the first star.
The most astonishing thing of the game though was that this was the first time Chicago beat the Flyers in Philadelphia in more than 26 years. These two don’t face off often but that is still an incredible and historic run.
Detroit’s win was also surprising considering that it lost three in a row prior to that. The Red Wings beat the Golden Knights 3-2 on a stellar night from goalie Ville Husso who made 33 saves.
