Both teams enter tonight with three wins in their last ten games as Washington clings to the seventh playoff spot in the National Hockey League’s Eastern Conference having picked up just four wins in its last fifteen games.

Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau leads the team with 48 points in his first season in Columbus. Gaudreau, a fourth-round pick by the Flames in the 2011 NHL Draft, spent nine seasons with Calgary before signing with the Blue Jackets in free agency this summer.
37-year-old Alex Ovechkin was held scoreless in Sunday’s loss at Toronto marking the fifth time in twelve games this month the 18-year veteran had been shut out. Ovi comes into tonight trailing Wayne Gretzky by 82 goals for the most all-time.
Washington has won six of the last seven games in this series dating back to December of 2019 with the lone Blue Jackets win coming on Boone Jenner’s final-minute goal to pick up a 5-4 win in Washington in February of 2022.
