GOODYEAR, Ariz. – SIUE golf opened play at the Loyola Intercollegiate Sunday to begin its spring season.
The Cougars are tied for 13th of 18 teams but are just three strokes out of the top 10 after the first round of play at Palm Valley Golf Club.
Utah Valley has a 274 (-14) to lead the team tournament. Middle Tennessee State is 11-under par for second and Delaware is eight-under in third place.
T.J. Baker is tied for 25th to lead the Cougars with a 71.
Luke Ludwig, playing as the Cougars’ individual, has a 72 and is tied for 34th.
Brooks Jungbluth is tied for 49th at 73. Anthony Ruthey carded a 74 and is tied for 65th. Tanner Collins is 86th with a 76 and Presley Mackelburg has a 78 and is tied for 99th.
Utah Valley’s Kai Iguchi, Middle Tennessee’s Kevin Jegers and Angus O’Brien, of Seton Hall, each have a 66 to tie for the lead after 18 holes.
SIUE will tee off beginning at 7:45 MT for Monday’s second round.
