Workers continue to repair damaged areas at Arroyo Seco Golf Course in South Pasadena after high winds recently wreaked havoc at the facility.
The city’s mayor, Michael Cacciotti, said the 18-hole course, driving range and miniature golf course remain closed indefinitely as reconstructive efforts are underway.
Santa Ana winds reached 50 to 60 mph in some part of Southern California from January 20-21, say weather officials, knocking down trees and power lines.
“We lost a couple of the poles in the driving range holding up the screen on one side,” said Cacciotti. “We hope to get the course and driving range reopened soon.”
On January 20, strong winds swept through parts of the Southland, making travel difficult on highways as Southern California Edison crews were forced to restore power to thousands of customers across Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
During the gusty period, loose shingles, toys, sports equipment and fallen palm fronds were seen scattered on South Pasadena streets and in front of residences.
“It was a pretty powerful windstorm,” said Cacciotti. “We haven’t had one of those in awhile.”
