The Sulphur Springs boys soccer team hit the road Tuesday, looking to pick up a big win over Pine Tree. In the midst of fighting for a playoff berth, the Wildcats came into the game knowing they needed a big win.
Alan Hernandez got the scoring started for Sulphur Springs, putting them up 1-0 thanks to an assist from Edgar Salazar. Uriel Santacruz followed with a goal of his own on an assist from JC Salas to put the Wildcats ahead 2-0.
Angel Andino joined in on the scoring, scoring on a free kick to score the third goal of the night, before Alex Yanez added a pair of goals of his own, thanks to assists from Santacruz and Andino. The final goal of the night came from Mariano Cuarenta, giving the Wildcats the 6-2 win.
The win not only pushed the Wildcats to 6-5 in district play, but also secured a playoff berth, with a chance for them to take the third seed. Sulphur Springs will have Friday night off before their final game of the year Tuesday, which will also be their Senior Night.
