The Memphis Grizzlies didn’t have their best game against the New York Knicks on Friday, but they still found a way to win. For Ja Morant, that’s what makes them a scary team.
Morant reminded everyone of that following their 118-114 victory against the Knicks, highlighting that “it’s crazy” to think that they are not even at their best yet and still were able to put away a New York squad led by Julius Randle and RJ Barrett.
Memphis’ superstar also called his team the next generation of the Grizzlies franchise.
we not even at our best yet .. it’s crazy 🐻 staytogetherGRZNXTGEN

Ja Morant exploded for 37 points, four rebounds, eight assists, two steals and one block in their showdown with the Knicks. However, he was not efficient at all, needing 33 shots (making just 14 of it) to record his scoring output.
The Grizzlies also appeared to be losing momentum in the game after surrendering their five-point halftime lead in the third quarter by allowing the Knicks to go on a 40-26 run. Fortunately for Memphis, they were able to come back and retake the lead before settling for a narrow victory.
Aside from Morant, five other Grizzlies scored in double-figures, though none scored more than 20 points. Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ziaire Williams both had 13 points each, while Desmond Bane had 12. It was an overall balanced scoring for the rest of the team despite their shooting struggles.
As Morant said it, the fact that they were able to hold on and win despite their ugly play speaks volumes of the quality they have. While they are a young team that lacks playoffs experience, other contenders cannot underestimate them.
