DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Eastern Illinois men’s golf wrapped up its second tournament of the week in Florida as the Panthers placed 8th at the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational.
The two-day, 36-hole event was played at the LPGA International Hills Course with weather conditions impacting play on both days.
Ben Lanman was EIU’s top finisher for the second time this week as he shot a 36-hole total of 151 which placed him in a tie for 12th. Lanman’s round of 76 on Saturday was one of the best rounds of the day among all golfers in the field.
Keegan Gowin and Preston Smith both tied for 26th after carding 36-hole scores of 156. Gowin was tied for 8th after the opening 18-holes after shooting 72 on Friday. Smith had an opening round 75.
Pierce Allord was tied for 54th as EIU’s fourth scored golfer. Allord shot 166 in the two-day event.
Grant Mascal was the Panthers fifth golfer finishing tied for 59th with a total of 175.
Tournament host Sacred Heart was the team champion with Marcus Lim (Sacred Heart) the individual medalist. EIU’s 36-hole total was 629 with a score of 304 on the opening day.
