The Middlebury women’s tennis team completed its season-opening weekend sweep with an 8-1 victory over Bates on Sunday morning. The Panthers (2-0) travel to California for their spring break trip and will have athletes playing at Chapman University and California State University-Los Angeles on March 20.
Doubles tandem Sami Remis and Brinlea La Barge earned the first point of the day with an 8-2 victory in the second spot. Nora Dahl and Nina Farhat teammed up in the third position for an 8-2 triumph, before Bates made it 2-1 with an 8-4 win at the top of the ladder.
Sahana Raman cruised in her singles match at #1, winning 6-0, 6-1. La Barge carried her momentum from doubles and topped her opponent 6-3, 6-0 in the fourth slot. Kavina Amin clinched the match with a dominant win (6-2, 6-1) at #5. In the third spot, Amy Delman trailed 1-0, but came back to tie the match with a 6-1 second set victory. She claimed the point in the tiebreaker by a score of 10-3. Caitlin Neal secured a point at #6 (6-0, 6-3), before Gena Huang made it 8-1 with a victory in the second position (7-6, 6-1).
