It’s time to catch up on all the latest hockey news, memes and more in this week’s edition of Social Roundup, presented by Truly Hard Seltzer!
O-H! The Ohio State women’s hockey team knows how to finish that one. After the Buckeyes won their first-ever national championship last month, they took their victory lap at Nationwide Arena prior before puck drop at last Tuesday’s game vs. the New York Islanders. This was a very special moment for the Buckeyes, the state of Ohio and Jackets fans everywhere. Congratulations ladies!
A devastating trade announcement was made on April 1 as the Blue Jackets announced a move that would send our beloved bug, Stinger, to the Colorado Avalanche. Good thing it was only an April Fools joke. As much as we would have loved having Bernie, Stinger just can’t be replaced.
Speaking of Stinger, he got his hands dirty for the good of the planet, working with our friends at ADS, Inc. to pick up litter at Driving Park. Learn more about how Stinger keeps the planet green and how you can as well.
It was a special night in Boston on Saturday as the Blue Jackets were in the building for the celebration of former CBJ captain Nick Foligno’s 1,000th NHL game earlier this month. Foligno split these games between Ottawa, the Blue Jackets, Toronto and Boston, with 599 of the coming in a CBJ sweater. Congratulations, Nick! We are glad we could be a part of your big day!
We hit two milestones this past week! Defenseman Andrew Peeke played in his 100th NHL game Tuesday against the New York Islanders and, at only 23 years old, forward Patrik Laine hit his 400th NHL game two nights later against the Isles.
