CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Derek Radley is one of 20 coaches named to the watch list for the 2021-22 Division I Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association announced on Monday.
Recognized as the highest annual coaching honor in women’s collegiate golf, the Jackie Steinmann WGCA National Coach of the Year Presented by Golf Pride is awarded annually to the top coach in Division I, II III and NAIA women’s golf. The recipient is selected by a prestigious collection of women’s collegiate golf coaches who follow criteria that has been established to identify the top head coach for the past year.
Radley is on the watch list for the second year in a row after leading Oregon to arguably the greatest regular season in program history. The No. 2 ranked Ducks claimed UO’s first-ever Pac-12 Championship last month at Eugene Country Club, and have tied the single-season record with four total tournament victories in 2021-22.
The Ducks’ entire five-player starting lineup earned all-Pac-12 recognition following their tremendous regular season, including a program-record three players on the first team in Hsin-Yu (Cynthia) Lu, Tze-Han (Heather) Lin and Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen. Lu became the second Duck ever to win the Pac-12 individual championship after shooting 6 under to lead Oregon to the team title.
Oregon is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Albuquerque Regional set for May 9-11 in New Mexico, with the top four finishing teams in the 12-team field advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 20-25 in Scottsdale, Ariz. UO is looking to reach the NCAA Championships for the 12th time in program history after tying for 11th place in Scottsdale last spring, finishing just two strokes shy of advancing to match play.
