Though the calendar is only at mid-May, the stakes for the drivers of the NASCAR Cup Series have been raised significantly. Through 12 races so far, 10 different drivers have won a race and secured a spot on the grid for the playoffs later this year. And at the halfway point of the regular season competition is heating up to see who can make the playoffs now that 10 teams already have their sights est on the round of 16.
The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400, the 13th race of the season and the midway point of the race to the playoffs. With the amount of different winners so far, and some unlikely names in that group, the pressure is on drivers like Ryan Blaney, Martin Truex Jr., Christopher Bell, and Kevin Harvick to get their first wins of the season and secure a playoff spot. Last week at Darlington, Joey Logano took the pressure off by getting his first win of the year. But he did so at the expense of an angry William Byron, and all eyes will be on what happens when Byron’s No. 24 gets to Logano’s No. 22.
