PORT CLINTON — Shawnee’s Gabe Burke finished third during Saturday’s Division II boys district tournament at VonThron-Hablitzel Tennis Center.
Burke fell to Bryan’s Jay Fortner 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals and then defeated Ottawa Hill’s Jack Burke 6-2, 6-3 in the third-place match.
The Ottawa-Glandorf doubles team of Eli Schmenk and Joshua Walls fell to Lexington’s Ryan Mecurio and Ross Drlik 6-1, 6-1 and then dropped the third-place match 6-3, 6-1 to Maumee’s Braden Tucker and Gavin Yu.
Burke and the O-G duo will compete in the state tournament Friday at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

FINDLAY — The Shawnee boys’ KJ Upshaw won the 100 and 200. Teammate Isaiah Johns (1,600) and 3,200 relay team of Justin Altenbach, Johns, Carter Cleaves and Noah Williams also finished first. Cleaves also qualified for regionals in the 1,600 with a fourth place.

ONTARIO — Kenton’s Abi Temple won the 100 and finished second in the 200 and Addy Modd was first in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles to qualify for regionals. Avery Smith (second, pole vault), Delaney Buxton (third, pole vault), Tatum Miller (second, shot put; third, discus) also advanced for the Kenton girls. Colby Quay (fourth, long jump), Parker Rarey (second, discus) and Gunner Stout (fourth, discus) from the Kenton boys team made regionals.

AYERSVILLE — The girls’ Bryn Tegenkamp (third, 800) and Rhaegan Marshall (fourth, long jump) for the girls and the boys’ Jonathan Etter (fourth, pole vault) and Elijah Mayes (fifth, 400) made the regionals for Continental.

COLDWATER — Winning pitcher Reece Dellinger allowed two hits and three walks while striking out four in six innings as the Cavaliers moved on to play Bath at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Elida.
Dellinger also had two doubles, a triple and three RBI. Josh Kaup had two hits and an RBI.

ADA — Ohio Northern’s Keegan Digby (shot put), Andrew Buderer (pole vault), Anna Schatzle (pole vault) and Tessa Pitcovich (10,000 meters) have qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Also competing will be Bluffton’s Desmond Gist (110 hurdles).
The meet will be Thursday through Saturday in Geneva, Ohio.
