With four golfers in the top 10, Trenton came away with the championship at the Downriver League Meet on Tuesday, May 24 at Carrington Golf Club in Monroe.
The Trojans wrapped up the day with a score of 317 and finished well ahead ahead of runner-up Gibraltar Carlson (335) and third-place Wyandotte Roosevelt (336).
Trenton claimed the overall DRL title, as well, following an undefeated run through league play this spring.
Woodhaven (338) took fourth place at the meet and was followed by Southgate Anderson (350), Allen Park (357) and Edsel Ford (410). Taylor High was also represented, but had only one golfer.
Trenton’s Will Barrett was the individual champion with a score of 75 while Elijah Saco (76) of Woodhaven finished runner-up for the day.
The Trojans’ Gavin Witt (79) tied for third with Roosevelt’s Alex Moon (79) while Witt’s teammate Cole Burke (80) tied for fifth with Allen Park’s Logan Ritcher (80).
Carlson’s Zackary Sisk (81) and Roosevelt’s Joshua Mills (81) tied for seventh place.
Trenton’s fourth golfer was Liam Bazner (83), who wrapped up the meet in ninth place overall.
There was a four-way tie for 10th place with Carlson teammates Hagan Smith (84) and Jase Marcott (84) along with Anderson’s Marcus King (84) and Roosevelt’s Hudson Hill (84).
Carlson’s fourth golfer was Eli Kolasa (86), who finished in 15th place overall.
Roosevelt’s top four was rounded out by Oscar Burns (92, 26th).
For Woodhaven, Ryan Simonson (85, 14th) had the second-best finish on the team and he was followed by Billy Sennett (88, 18th) and Kyle Pennanen (89, 21st).
Anderson’s second golfer was Ben Sinn (88, 18th) and he was one stroke ahead of teammates Josh Wright (89, 21st) and John Demou (89, 21st).
Andrew Dmitruchina (91, 24th) was second for Allen Park and he was joined in the squad’s top four by Trevor Stanley (92, 26th) and Michael Lambert (94, 29th).
Edsel was led by Peyton Sosnowski (93, 28th). Also competing from the team were Nick Noomie (100, 32nd), Blake Deckert (102, 35th) and Brady Deckert (115, 39th).
Taylor’s lone competitor was Hunter Adams (135, 40th).
Golfers around the state will head into regional action after Memorial Day.
Trenton, Carlson, Anderson and Allen Park will be at Lakes of Taylor for the Division 2, Region 12 meet on Tuesday, May 31.
The following day, Roosevelt, Woodhaven, Edsel and Taylor will head to Jackson’s Cascades Golf Course for the D1, Region 6 meet.
