Marin Cilic to win Queen’s Club Championship
1pt 6-1 Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes
Preview
Veteran Marin Cilic last won the Queen’s Club Championship back in 2018 but showed he is not yet past it with a run to the last four of the French Open earlier this month and he could be a great bet to triumph in the Wimbledon warm-up.
Cilic swatted aside the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev on his way to the semi-finals at Roland Garros and has given himself a decent break ahead of Queen’s, which he has won twice in his career.
The Croatian is a dangerous operator on grass, winning 77 of his 108 matches on the surface, and he is also a former Wimbledon finalist.
He can make his experience count and looks the best outright bet in an open market.
The withdrawal of Carlos Alcaraz, who would have been the tournament’s highest-ranked player, has made for a competitive field and Matteo Berrettini may also catch the eye of punters.
The Italian will go into the tournament off the back of the ATP Stuttgart final, is defending champion at Queen’s and reached the final of Wimbledon last year.
But his route to the final will not be straightforward with Briton Dan Evans awaiting him in his opener and a resurgent Andy Murray another possible opponent later in the tournament.
Top seed Casper Ruud is another who could be on the radar of punters after an outright bet but his French Open form could be misleading.
The plucky Norwegian reached his first Grand Slam final in Paris but he is far less competent on grass, winning only two of his six matches on the surface since turning pro back in 2019.
